On Aug 25, we received the wonderful news that Koa Ridge students will be getting a school bus route beginning Aug 28. This would not have been possible without the community's advocacy.
After being contacted by a constituent on March 15th sharing concerns that the rink had been closed for over a year, our office sent a letter to the City's Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) requesting assistance. On April 12, the DPR crew came to clean and repaint the rink and it is now open.
A constituent contacted us on May 2 about a leaking roof issue and our office promptly sent a letter to the property manager on May 3. The property manager acknowledged the roofing proposals on May 15, and repairs are now underway as of June 22.
On April 7, we received a letter from a constituent who had fallen victim to a potential online scam in December 2022. Our office reached out to the Division of Financial Institutions (DFI) within the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs for help. DFI promptly responded on May 31 and will continue to provide assistance moving forward.

Representative Trish La Chica represents Hawaii's 37th district, which encompasses Mililani Town, Mililani Mauka, Koa Ridge, and Waipi'o Gentry. Appointed by Governor Josh Green in 2023, she is committed to serving her constituents, improving her community, and advancing the Filipino-American community in Hawai'i.
Rep. La Chica has over 15 years of experience working in leadership roles for non-profit organizations, including state and county government in the areas of public health, Medicaid, housing, and homelessness. Her prior roles include leading public policy for AlohaCare and the Hawai'i Public Health Institute and serving under Governor David Ige and Mayor Rick Blangiardi.
Her advocacy work started as an investigative journalist in Manila, producing documentaries that brought attention to the struggles of Filipino families. Rep. La Chica is currently raising her two young kids with her husband in Mililani, where she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, visiting the beach, traveling, and experimenting with new recipes.
